My career choice, and the beginning of my project.

by Raven_Cyarm @ 10/05/2008 - 09:50:21 pm

Ok, so I guess it's time I let y'all in on a little bit of my life. My whole life, I've been an avid gamer. My days and some nights, have been filled with my face, staring at a TV, as I blast on some baddies, or something along those lines, playing a videogame. Now, of course, living a life like that, of course eliminates most of your social life. Now I'm 19, and quite sheepishly, I admit to never having a job at the time of writing. :P

Now, I guess I need to get around to doing something about that, lol. In regards to where I should go for work, there's retail, office jobs, construction, but bleh. None of that's for me. I've decided to head down the path of what I've been doing my whole life. Videogames. Specifically, I want to someday, become a games designer. These guys have got the best job in the world, IMO. They basically, are the guys who "write" the stories for games. They "think up the levels". They "makes missions" and the best part is, they get paid to do it. These guys are essentially, bosses. They tell the programmers, and gfx artists what they want, and how they want it, and they go through and do it. They make sure everyone is on task, and that the best possible product is made. Now, I believe that's where I wanna be in a few years down the line. But getting there is no picnic. I've done a couple of days of research, on how people get into the industry, and I believe I've found a way to give me some practice, and a project to put my creative juices into, shall we say. :P

I've decided to create my own game. Now of course, I've had very little programming experience, and I can't draw to save my life :P But what I'm going to do, is use a game generator program. That is, a program that provides you with the tablet of what you wanna do, and all the instruments to do it, and all you've gotta do, is just make it. I've decided to give a shot at using RPG Maker XP. I'v used an earlier RPG maker on the PS1, and I felt that it was decent, but I would be far better off with a mouse. So yay the fact that this is a PC version. :P I've given it a look, and it appears to create RPG's at a very good level. Now, while the graphics I give it, will hopefully be as pretty as possible, the main objective, is to give the game, the best story, best characters, the best overall experience, I can give it. That's what a games developer aims for, and hopes to achieve at the top level.

This blog, will be dedicated to the creation process I go through. From initially creating the characters, to writing the script, to bug testing. I'm planning on doing a full blog on what I'm working on. I hope all who read this, can get a good glimpse of what I'm working on, and for, and I hope of course, to make a great game worth playing. I hope you enjoy me! :)
